How it all began...
Sitting around room 617, waiting for Grandpa to recover from pneumonia in MMC in Las Cruces, NM, Leon (Grandpa), Leo and Leonard were sitting around reminiscing back to some 51 years ago..... Around 1960 when Leon had purchased/rented two dozers and worked them on ranches around Mt. Taylor - 4 corners area - near Chaco Canyon, NM. After that venture, Leon ventured into several different things like renting and operating dump trucks to owning and operating a mechanics garage in Deming, NM, all while keeping and raising a family along the way, which consisted of three sons - John, Leo and Leonard, a daughter Leona, and wife Mildred Cole Morrow. In 1972, Leon and Leo purchased a crawler track John Deere backhoe that had many years of use. During that summer that backhoe was used many times, and it was recalled by the group that it took 2 weeks to dig a septic tank hole, but it did get done! (Leo recalls the boom falling off in the hole!) One thing led to another, and the firm began to grow. Precast septic forms were constructed by Leon Morrow with the boys at his side. They were crude, but did work and increased sales for the firm. Around 1976, Leonard joined the firm working with Leon and Leo. John, the oldest son, had ventured off working construction in AZ and TX. After several years of recessions and business bloopers, the company still exists today. The group eventually ended up in Las Cruces, NM, where it now calls home. Leo owns & operates, along with his family, a precast plant called LECO industries, and Grandpa Leon and Leonard, along with his family, continue to own and operate the construction business that is now called Morrow Enterprises Inc. Although the year now is 2011, and Grandpa Leon is retired, Leonard recalls that the fellow who taught him how to run and operate equipment and gave guidance for what he does today is still with him and Leo today, and that fellow be Grandpa Leon. Today the company does site work, utility work, earthwork, curb and gutter, concrete work, water systems, etc. The basic philosophy is still there, it's just 51 years later.
